pyramid of power

Elementary 2 continued their study of a time when European democracy did not exist and society was divided into a hierarchy which many historians call the Pyramid of Power. Like today this power was measured in land and money. These were the two currencies used by the few people at the top to effectively buy loyalty and guarantee servitude from those below. By analysing such a system the students appreciate the continual evolution of human society towards a more balanced outcome even though that outcome is still far away.
